The Adventure Vision emerged from Entex Industries, an American toy manufacturer that had previously experimented with handheld and tabletop electronics. The company released the device in 1982 at a launch price of $79.95, slotting it into a market segment that already included established LCD handhelds from other makers. Entex’s bet was that a more sophisticated display, capable of moving sprites and showing multiple objects on screen at once, would justify a higher price point and a cartridge-based library.
